A private camp, on private land based (at least initially) around Hipcamp.
Coming back to life; A historic camp property with a regenerative goat rental farm as the foundation.
We are striving to create a unique, highly select-able camping experience. We will have over 30 designated tent sites available, but only a fraction will be available to be chosen at any given time. We intend to do our best to accurately describe each site and all its features, characteristics, pros and cons.
We fully believe that this will lead to distinct experiences that are unique to camping in general and to other sites on our land.
We also have a few tent and RV sites that are in the heart of everything (map) and are mostly intended for short, transitional stays for people who are fine with busyness and potential interaction that is likely to occur in the core of the camp at the parking area and close to the facilities.
The original lake (reported to have been dozens of acres) is now a pond of around 5 acres. Three attached pools no longer fully exist and are basically ponds, typically full of life. The shuffleboard court is now used for firewood preparation and storage. A lot has changed... and honestly, not all of the change has been good, it's tough to maintain an old property.
In a way, this is where you can come into the story... FlameWorks Camp is partially a plan to bring the Hosfeld Camp spirit back to life!
We intend to take the total space available (over one million square feet!) and make it so people can enjoy the outdoors, but with much more separation space and distance typically available in commercial campgrounds or public parks.
Our core tent campsites are at least 75' from each other (most much more) and only a fraction are available at any given time. We intend to only offer adjacent sites to related groups, by request.
All of our sites are best described as simple, perhaps even primitive. As a home base for a goat rental business, we rely on grass, forbes (phorbs) and other natural vegetation to feed our goats when they are not on jobs. For years, we have attempted to cultivate the thickest, densest woody vegetation possible to keep the goats digestion system tuned to their natural food and to keep them ready for all potential jobs.
